About
Great food, one stop off the train
ChowHop! is a restaurant discovery app built around the Metro-North Railroad. Instead of asking you to search a map full of pins, it starts from the station you are standing in: pick a stop on the Hudson, Harlem, or New Haven line and ChowHop! shows you the restaurants, bars, coffee shops, and quick bites within walking distance of that platform, sorted by how long the walk actually takes.
Every entry is tied to a real station and a real walking time, so you can plan a meal into a commute, a day trip up the river, or a spontaneous hop off the train with friends. Filter by dining, pizza and quick bites, bars, or coffee, narrow it down by cuisine, and set a maximum walk so you never miss a train because the food was further away than you thought. The line map lights up the stations that match your filter, giving you a glance at where to get off.
ChowHop! is for Metro-North riders first: daily commuters who want something better than a platform pretzel, weekend explorers wandering towns along the line, and anyone visiting New York who would rather eat where the neighborhood eats. It is an independent project, built and maintained by a small team of rail riders and local-food obsessives who test the walks themselves and update the catalog as places open, move, and close.
